Are you keeping up with your breast exams?...
Although October is the month of Breast Cancer awareness you should be getting in with your checkups on all parts of your body including your breasts!
Don't know about Breast Cancer? Scared to learn about it? Well, don't be! The purpose of awareness is to educate yourself on being alert to the many changes of your body (especially your breasts)
Breast cancer is when malignant cells form in the tissues of the breast.
Our breast is made up of ducts and lobes. Smaller sections of lobes are called lobules and then end in dozen of tiny bulbs that can produce milk. The lobes, lobules and bulbs are linked by tiny tubes called ducts. (all of this is what gives breast that "squishy" feeling and makes it one of the softest parts of our bodies.
Each breast also has blood vessels and lymph vessels. The lymph vessels carry an almost colorless fluid called lymph. Lymph vessels lead to organs called lymph nodes. Lymph nodes are small bean-shaped structures that are found throughout the body. They filter substances in lymph and help fight infection and disease.
The most common type of breast cancer is ductal carcinoma, which begins in the cells of the ducts. Cancer that begins in the lobes or lobules is called lobular carcinoma and is more often found in both breasts than are other types of breast cancer. Inflammatory breast cancer is an uncommon type of breast cancer in which the breast is warm, red, and swollen.
So are you at risk? How are you at risk? There are many factors: age, hereditary, treatment with radiation therapy to the chest/breast, taking hormones or even drinking alcoholic beverages etc.
How can you prevent it? Because there are various risks on getting breast cancer, your BEST prevention is checkups! Mammograms[low radiation x-ray of the breast] and physical breast exams are the way to go. Spotting irregularity with the shape of your breast of even the feel and sharing this with your doctor is a great way to tackle the problem early!
Women in their 40s should be getting yearly mammograms. But just because your younger than 40 doesn't mean you should wait to do exams! When your in the shower, or even lying down on your bed you should be gently massaging the breast in a circular motion first and then move up and down from the top of the breast down to the nipple and all around. Get a feel for the shape and feel of your breasts so that if one day something doesnt feel right..you can head to your doctor who can then check it out!
My mom is a breast cancer survivor so I have to be very cautious about my breast exams (my doctor performs them on me and sometimes I do them myself)
Here is a website to learn more about Breast Cancer awareness and things you can do to help with the cause:

Yakkity Yak!...
Do you love technology? Nothing says organized, busy and important then the latest cell phones, and nowadays there is a phone for every kind of person no matter the profession/hobby/personality... etc.
I must admit that I am a crackberry (someone addicted to Blackberry) and enjoy using the Curve. Although it took me quite a while to get use to is (I am a former Razr owner) it was well worth it.
Internet access and music capabilites are becoming the standard for most phones. Plus, with new attractive designs there is something for everybody. I love how newer phones look so sleek like something out of a Jason Bourne movie or any action flick.
Unlike some phones [*cough* iPhone] you don't have to read/analyze a user's manual. Just turn on and go.
Here are some of my favorites that will be released or are available now:
This here is the Nokia 3600 Slide phone. I love this color, with a 3.2 megapixel photo and video quality. Hold it against the television to share photos and videos. It also has background noise cancellation, maps and can hold about 3000 songs (with a card that is). Should be available this year if not already.
In my opinion, the Bentley of smartphones. The highly desired Blackberry Bold. Doesn't it look sexy? I feel like I should be working overseas with a high demand corporate job with this phone.
The most fastest, quickest and powerful blackberry to date! High speed internet, you can transfer music from iTunes to the phone, maps, better service, ability to multi task using the phone's features while literally using the phone! I don't know about you but I'm sold! However I have Verizon Wireless and knowing them, I won't be able to get the phone until 2022! lol
Coming soon to all you lucky AT&T customers :p
Whomp whomp! (lol) the iPhone. What can be said about the iPhone that Steve Jobs hasn't already bragged about? My significant other has this phone and for the life of me I still don't know how to work it! Not to mention that iPhone manuals for dummies sell like hotcakes at the bookstore (LOL!) It has alot of cool applications and it looks good...enough said! lol
This phone is the jack of all trades. Not only does it have a touch screen like the iPhone, but it flips into a querty keyboard for smooth texting! Available through Verizon Wireless *drums roll* and perfect for users who use VCAST. You can surf the web and bookmark your favorite sites (like this blog for instance), with access to news, sports and entertainment!
This phone is the Samsung Glyde and I really like it. When I get tired of the Blackberry Curve (which may never happen), I might want to get my hands on this one.

Autumn has arrived...
Autumn has officially arrived (Monday to be exact) and I am really excited! Its my favorite season. Ok, for some of you it might seem like the beginning of the end... like colder weather, leaves falling, longer nights etc. But it doesn't have to be all gloom!
Even though the weather is changing and its time to hang up the flip flops and sundresses, you can still be fashionable this fall!
I'm a Beantown [New England] girl, so dressing for the cold has become an art to me! (LOL) Coats, scarfs, boots the whole lot!
For us gals at work, looking good is just as important as showing up (joke) so let's get in on the Autumn wardrobe!
Here are a few recommendations to get you started on fall:
Ok, these are my favorite right now. Bangles! You can still wear them from the summer well into the fall, and they are the most easiest accessory to wear! Very chic with a long sleeve turtle neck or even with that long cardigan.
Ted Rossi, $48-98
You need something to keep you warm all fall and in the winter! Coats these days are so stylish, and I love the military inspired coats that were popular last year that are now making another comeback this year! You can look like crap underneath but with this coat you will feel like a winner. The belt will make your waist look slim so you won't feel like Frostine the snowman! Say yes to Wool!
Soia & Kyo, $380 available at Nordstroms
These are absolutely adorable! I am drooling over these pair of Mary Jane pumps! With a hidden platform you won't be aching in pain as you do your errands around the office. Pair this with a wraparound dress, some trendy trousers or even that (office friendly..please) pencil skirt!
Aldo, $100
What is better than a nice handbag to complete the whole fall look? Small bags are out, its cold weather season and you want something to hold your wallet, hand lotion and that extra pair of gloves! Believe it or not, this bag is made of leather and very sturdy, plus perfect to throw around and abuse (LOL). But don't be too aggressive with it, its CHANEL.
Very comfortable bag and roomy so easy to get in and out of it. I love the color grey and this bag just makes it too good to pass up! It has drawstrings on the side for gals like you (and myself) who likes to throw the whole world in it! (I'd park my car in my handbag if it were big enough)
CHANEL, $2,250
Got any Autumn tips? Share with me in the comments!
Presidential Election 2008
Hey guys!
I know that in two months, America will be putting in their vote for the next President of the United States.

It's not too late but act fast.
We all know about the popular candidates Obama and McCain. But did you know that there are other candidates who are after the seat in the White House? They are not democrats or republicans, but from other political parties! (these are just a few of them)
Like the well-known Ralph Nader for the Independent Party
Bob Barr for the Libertarian Party
and Cynthia McKinney for the Green Party!
Whew! Thats too many politicians to deal with!
Well in case you feel stuck with the decision of Obama and McCain, you always have other options!
What are your feelings about the presidential candidates?
